AAVE
AAVE-USD
Aave is a leading decentralized finance protocol that lets you earn interest on deposits and borrow assets through automated liquidity pools on multiple blockchains.
Historical oversold levels
Track when AAVE has reached extreme oversold conditions (XTRM below -125) historically. These levels represent prolonged periods in extreme territory and often present potential opportunities.
AAVE has no extreme XTRM events on the daily timeframe.
AAVE has no extreme XTRM events on the weekly timeframe.
What is AAVE?
Aave launched in 2017 as ETHLend before rebranding in 2018 to focus on the liquidity pool model we see today. Stani Kulechov and his team essentially pioneered the decentralized money market, moving away from slow peer-to-peer matching to a highly efficient, automated system where users interact directly with smart contracts.
Technically, Aave is built on a series of sophisticated smart contracts that manage lending pools. When you deposit assets, you receive aTokens that appreciate in value or increase in quantity as interest accrues. The protocol famously introduced flash loans, allowing developers to borrow millions without collateral as long as the debt is repaid within the same block. This architecture has expanded across multiple networks like Polygon, Avalanche, and various Layer 2s, making it a hub for cross-chain liquidity.
The AAVE token sits at the center of the ecosystem. It serves two primary roles: governance and security. Token holders vote on Risk Parameters and protocol upgrades. More importantly, AAVE can be staked in the Safety Module, acting as a backstop in case of a shortfall event. This creates a robust circular economy where protocol fees can be used to reward stakers or facilitate token burns, aligning long-term incentives for participants.
Aave’s ecosystem is massive, featuring deep integrations with Chainlink for price feeds and partnerships with institutional players through Aave Arc. They have also launched GHO, their native decentralized stablecoin, which adds another layer of utility to the protocol.
Looking toward 2026, the roadmap is focused on institutional scaling and seamless cross-chain functionality. We expect to see Aave dominate the Real World Asset (RWA) space, allowing traditional credit to flow into DeFi. With the continued maturation of GHO and deeper integration with Chainlink’s CCIP, Aave is positioned to be the foundational liquidity layer for the entire decentralized financial web, moving far beyond its roots as a simple lending tool.
What is the XTRM Indicator?
The XTRM (Extreme) Indicator is a proprietary momentum indicator that measures cumulative time spent in extreme territory. Unlike traditional oscillators like RSI that measure a snapshot in time, XTRM accumulates how long an asset remains in oversold or overbought conditions, providing a deeper understanding of momentum exhaustion.
For AAVE, monitoring the XTRM indicator provides valuable insights into prolonged extreme conditions. When the XTRM drops significantly below zero (especially below -125), AAVE-USD has been in oversold territory for an extended period, suggesting potential for a reversal. Conversely, high positive XTRM values indicate extended overbought conditions.
Understanding AAVE XTRM Signals
- Deep Oversold (XTRM below -125): When AAVE XTRM falls below -125, it indicates prolonged time in extreme oversold conditions. This cumulative measure often provides stronger reversal signals than single-day oversold readings.
- Neutral Zone (XTRM near 0): When XTRM hovers around zero, AAVE is in a balanced state without extended extreme conditions. This can indicate consolidation or indecision in the market.
- Overbought (XTRM above +10): An XTRM above +10 indicates AAVE has been in overbought territory for an extended period, potentially signaling an overextended rally and increased risk of pullback.
Daily vs Weekly XTRM for AAVE
This page displays both daily and weekly XTRM for AAVE. The daily XTRM tracks short-term cumulative extremes, useful for identifying swing trading opportunities. The weekly XTRM provides a longer-term perspective on momentum exhaustion, helping investors spot major turning points.
By analyzing both timeframes together, you can identify when AAVE-USD is experiencing extreme conditions at multiple time scales, which often leads to the strongest reversal setups.
Historical XTRM Extreme Analysis
Above, we track historical instances when AAVE XTRM dropped below -125 (extreme oversold territory). These periods represent times when AAVE-USD spent extended periods in oversold conditions, which historically have presented some of the best buying opportunities. Analyzing how AAVE behaved after reaching these extreme XTRM levels can help inform future trading decisions.
