What is ONDO?

Ondo Finance was founded in 2021 by Nathan Allman, a former Goldman Sachs associate, with the goal of democratizing access to institutional-grade financial products. While it initially started by offering structured DeFi products, the team pivoted toward the massive Real-World Asset (RWA) sector. This shift positioned Ondo as a leader in bringing low-risk, high-quality yields from the traditional financial world, like US Treasuries, onto the blockchain for both retail and institutional investors.

Technically, Ondo operates primarily on the Ethereum blockchain but has expanded its reach through cross-chain bridges. Its architecture revolves around creating tokenized wrappers for traditional assets. For example, OUSG provides exposure to short-term US Treasuries, while USDY serves as a yield-bearing alternative to traditional stablecoins, backed by bank demand deposits and Treasuries. These products are integrated with Flux Finance, a decentralized lending protocol that allows users to leverage their tokenized assets.

The ONDO token serves as the core governance mechanism for the Ondo DAO. Token holders have the power to vote on protocol upgrades, manage the treasury, and influence the direction of the Flux Finance ecosystem.
